ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Plan, organize and implement educational (curricular and extra-curricular), community and recreational programs in conjunction with Middlebury Community Schools Aquatic Programming Policy.
  • Maintain and communicate scheduling and programming while ensuring adequate instruction and supervision of programs.
  • Supervise and manage instructors and lifeguards.
  • Communicate schedules with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure safe and proper maintenance, cleaning and repairs.
  • Submit all required pool records and report to the proper administrative bodies while maintaining current operational and procedural aquatic policies.
  • Submit all required paperwork in regards to facility usage and required financial reports.
  • Coordinate all community recreation activities for district. Oversee supervisors working community rec activities.
  • Assist athletic department with district facility rental procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Background in swimming instruction, lifeguarding, pool management, including programming and scheduling and operation is necessary. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, including CPR and First Aid; Waterfront Lifeguarding optional. Additional certifications for Water Safety Instructor Trainer, Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, Aquatics Facilities Management and Pool Operator's License desired. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence, and effectively present information. MATHEMATICAL SKILL: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. EVALUATION: An evaluation will be done on the employee's performance on an annual basis.
