Join to apply for the Applied Technical Solutions Layout / Checker role at Siemens Energy. As a Layout/Checker, you will create and verify technical layouts for development of solutions from the early stages of initial concept engineering through to installation and commissioning. This requires collaboration with Siemens Energy technology experts, factories, service centers and field service personnel worldwide. The extended oOEM fleet comprises compressors of diverse makes, models, design philosophies, and vintages. Siemens Energy brings a comprehensive technology portfolio and decades of experience in modernizing oOEM compressors for numerous clients.

You are encouraged to learn from experienced teams and develop it by applying brand-new technologies such as AI or next-generation laser scanners. The growth experience of this position offers exposure beyond the layout/checker function.

How Youll Make An Impact
  • Offer support for pre-sale activities by evaluating proposed solutions for practicality, logistics, and risk mitigation to improve sales efforts.
  • Create accurate layout drawings and 3D models of parts and equipment, including dimensions, tolerances, fits, finishes, and materials; develop a list of new drawings for prototypes and contract equipment.
  • Ensure all drawings, layouts, and bills of material are verified for accurate part numbers, quantities, welding methods, and compliance with manufacturing standards and applying accurate dimensioning techniques.
  • Support manufacturing and purchasing teams in interpreting customer and manufacturing drawings and material lists. Evaluate and address shop issues related to deviations from drawings by clearly explaining changes and corrections on check prints to colleagues.
  • Engage in field and service center work, supporting hardware implementation into client compressors.
What You Bring
  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with 2+ years of industrial experience in rotating machinery (e.g., centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, axial compressors, screw compressors, integrally geared compressors; auxiliary systems highly preferred), or an Associate degree in drafting or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience (design drafting 2D/3D CAD and experience with rotating machinery). Those with more experience may be considered for a higher level.
  • Proficient in reverse engineering with dimensional inspection techniques, including the use of micrometers and laser scanners, for OEM parts and assemblies.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to think strategically. Strong communication, collaboration, self-motivation, organization, and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize and work independently or as part of a team on complex designs.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% annually; must have a current US passport (or ability to obtain) and valid drivers license.

Base salary range for this position will be provided during the interview process and varies by location and experience.
