Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.Sort and distribute incoming mail and email; assemble files and other materials as needed.Take phone calls and arrange appointments, manage multiple calendars and schedule meetings.Maintain and file correspondence and reports for future reference.Assist in monitoring budgets and ensuring expenses are within budget.Create purchase requisitions and check requests and submit purchase orders for payment. Create purchasing card requests and reconcile p-card transactions for the division.Welcome visitors and answer phone calls, using judgment and tact to provide information.Requisition, receive and distribute supplies for the program. Ensure servicing of equipment in a timely manner.Process and maintain records, including but not limited to medical records, drug logs, inventory of clinic supplies and vaccination records. Perform data entry.Compose, type, edit and maintain routine to complex forms, correspondence and reports; copy documents some of which are confidential.Gather material on assigned subjects for preparation of reports, presentations, etc.Serve as liaison between various different departments.Intake animals from the public for low cost spay/neuter surgeries. Receive money and issue receipts.Ensure animals receive proper treatments and medication as prescribed by Veterinarian.Prep animals for surgery, assist Veterinarian in surgery and monitor animal during surgery.Clean and disinfect cages, walls, floors, and equipment.Feed, water and walk all animals in the clinic.Clean and disinfect surgery room after surgery, sterilize and autoclave surgical instruments.Educate the public on Heartworm, Feline Leukemia, after care for surgery and flea/tick prevention.Assist in euthanasia - perform euthanasia at request of Veterinarian or Superintendent.Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of related experience.Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses and any offense under A.C.A. § 21-15-103.Must be proficient in the use of a computer and related software programs including basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.Must obtain Euthanasia Technician Certification within one year of date of hire.Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.Ability to use addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, and/or calculate ratios, rates and percentages.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret animal science journals.Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and/or regulatory agencies.Ability to effectively present information to clients and citizens.While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
