Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED. Three years of experience in the handling and custody of dogs, other domestic animals or code enforcement experience are required. Completion of 60 semester credits to include 15 semester credits in Veterinary Medicine or Criminal Justice may substitute for two years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis; OR high school diploma or GED and six months of experience as an Animal Services Clerk, Animal Attendant, or Veterinary Technician with Miami-Dade County are required. Must possess a Driver license. Must successfully complete the Animal Control Officer State Certification Exam within 12 months of hire date. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.Recruitment NotesEmployees in this classification will be responsible for ensuring enforcement of laws and ordinances pertaining to animal control within the County. Duties include but are not limited to enforcing Chapter 5 of the Miami-Dade County Code by responding to constituents complaints, issuing warnings and notices of violations, issuing civil violation notices, writing reports, and by impounding stray and injured animals, among other activities.
