Salary: $22.09 - $29.02 Hourly Location : Irvine, CA Job Type: Extended Part-Time Job Number: 03961 Department: Community & Library Services Opening Date: 08/19/2025 Closing Date: 9/2/2025 5:00 PM Pacific Description The City of Irvine seeks candidates to provide daily care and enrichment for shelter animals. Candidates will assist with adoption counseling, behavioral assessments of shelter animals and customer service. There is one Extended Part-time vacancy and two Part-time vacancies being filled by this recruitment.Future vacancies may be filled through this recruitment. The ideal candidates possess a high school diploma or equivalent and some experience caring for or handling animals, preferably at an animal shelter. Interview: After a thorough review of applications, those candidates deemed most qualified as reflected in their application will be invited to an interview. Background Check: A thorough background investigation will be conducted prior to appointment. Medical Examination: A medical examination will be conducted, including a drug screening and proof of a negative TB test to ensure the ability to perform assigned duties. Future Vacancies: This recruitment may be used to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization. Part-time employees are employed at will and their services can be discontinued without cause. Certain City budgets may not include funding for mandated CalPERS employer contributions.
