Corporate Audit Services Organization Overview

Corporate Audit Services (CAS) is an independent and objective audit and consulting function that is guided by a philosophy of adding value to improve the operations of Eli Lilly and Company. Its mission is to assist the company in achieving its objectives by implementing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the organization's risk management, control, and governance processes.

Position Description

The Analyst - Assurance Data Analytics and Automation in Indianapolis, IN will primarily be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation capabilities for the Corporate Audit Services organization. The role will include a balance of new project development in addition to data preparation and support of current tools. New projects will include cleansing, transforming, and modelling data with the goal of discovering useful insights, supporting decision-making, and suggesting improvements to the audit process. The Analyst, Assurance Data Analytics and Automation will work as a member of the CAS Data Analytics team to meet internal audit objectives by creating stakeholder value, improving audit efficiency, and providing enhanced assurance.

To maintain perspective on data analytics opportunities, the Analyst - Assurance Data Analytics and Automation may occasionally be selected to work with 2-8 person audit teams on domestic and global audits designed to test compliance with good internal control practices that align with corporate policies and procedures.

Primary Position Responsibilities

Solution Delivery

  • Develop data analytics tools, including visualization tools, to effectively analyze data across the company and identify risks, trends, and insights across audit areas.
  • Create artificial intelligence and automation solutions using a combination of enterprise and custom-developed technologies.
  • Leverage data from various sources, including SAP, Workday, SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, TeamMate and others.
  • Drive process standardization and automation to enable CAS to be more effective and efficient.

Operational Excellence

  • Assist the CAS Data Analytics team in responding to data analytic requests, producing datasets to support audits, and maintaining current analytics capabilities.
  • Support and enable organizational reporting to business partners, leaders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Partner with Lilly personnel to identify control risks relative to current regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and automation tools and capabilities.

Process Ownership

  • Forge partnerships with data owners, assurance function partners, and other key business leaders to identify unmet data analytics and process improvement needs for CAS and the broader enterprise.
  • Drive the upskilling of CAS and partner assurance functions in data analytics domains.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field/equivalent experience.
  • ​3+ years of relevant professional experience in data analytics
  • Experience with reporting/query, data management, and statistical tools (i.e., R, Python, SAS, SQL).
  • Experience in data visualization tools: Tableau, Qlik, or PowerBI (preferred)
  • Experience in project management
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills in complex subject matter areas

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Professional experience building automation and artificial intelligence solutions.
  • Experience working with or having domain knowledge of Internal Audit.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with a wide variety of cross-functional partners.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking and prioritizing are necessary.

  • Up to 5-10% travel based on business needs.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$63,750 - $145,200

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
