IU8 includes four counties comprised of 35 school districts (approximately 98 schools) and five Career Technical Centers.?Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 serves approximately 47,000 students across four counties within 3500 square miles. Our service area includes four counties: Blair, Somerset, Bedford, and Cambria. We have five different office locations within our service area: Altoona, Duncansville, Ebensburg, Richland, and Somerset.? Job Summary: To assist the program manager in the management of The PMSC program through the supervision and coordination of assigned sites and personnel. Key Responsibilities:
- May supervise approximately 30-45 PMSC members.
- May coordinate the administrative management of approximately 30-45 AmeriCorps members.
- Serve as an advisor to the Program Manager on all matters concerning PMSC administration.
- Make recommendations on improving methods and procedures.
- Analyze records and reports to determine the effectiveness of the overall operations.
- May coordinate activities and relations between Community Partners, immediate supervisor, and PMSC members.
- Act as liaison with Community Partners and corps members.
- May conduct regular on-site visits with corps members within the designated state-wide region.
- Gather and compile data for quarterly reporting.
- May seek out, plan and conduct program evaluations.
- Utilize conflict resolution and mediation skills between participating parties within assigned areas of responsibility.
- May establish & carry out member and host site recruitment plans.
- Submit, coordinate and implement service projects in the statewide region.
- May establish public service announcements, outreach material, and media presence for special events.
- Deliver presentations on PMSC and activities as requested.
- Maintain program files and databases of PMSC activities, members & host sites.
- May develop and maintain PMSC social media outlets and website.
- May order members and office supplies as needed.
- May administer member health care and childcare plans.
- May support member clearance & background check process.
- Have a general knowledge of the PMSC budget.
- Demonstrate regular and timely attendance.
- Assume any other related and appropriate duties assigned or as determined by the Program Manager or Program Director.
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Education, Sociology, Public Administration, Business or related field with a GPA 3.0 or greater for the Baccalaureate Degree. Proven success in employment or volunteer service. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to a designated area or as much as a 13-county area. Proficiency in online applications (such as WordPress, Microsoft Office, Mail Chimp, and other social media platforms). Experience in managing large online databases. Skilled in creating social media content to increase branding and visibility of the AmeriCorps program. Strong organizational and communication skills. Self-starter, ability to meet deadlines and commitment to community service concepts. Experience with AmeriCorps preferred.
- Must be able to interpret, analyze and problem solve. Must be able to converse and interact with individuals with diverse levels of education and abilities. Excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to schedule, organize and supervise other personnel. Must be able to read and understand documents relating to federal, state and local mandates as well as local agency policies and procedures.
- Upon hire, all new employees must obtain a certificate of medical examination as well as a tuberculosis test as required under Chapter 14 of the Public School Code, 24 P.s. §§14-1416, 14-1418; 22 Pa Code §49.12(b) (regarding education); and 28 Pa Code §23.44 (regarding health and safety).
- Current and acceptable clearances: Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 151 (PA Child Abuse History) Act 114 (PDE Fingerprinting), PDE6004 (Arrest & Conviction) and Act 168 (PA Sexual Misconduct background).
