Akima Logistics Services is seeking an Alternate Tow Pilot for the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) at Benjamin O. Davis Airfield. This pilot operates tow planes in support of the 94th Flight Training Squadron soaring operations.
Responsibilities
- Performs glider/sailplane towing operations at the USAFA Airfield (KAFF), including tows from the surface to 12,500 MSL for USAF-owned and operated gliders.
- Supports USAFA glider tow operations off-site for 94th training camps and soaring competitions within a day's flight of Colorado.
- Conducts preflight inspections, aircraft positioning in hangars, refueling, post-flight cleaning, and hangar floor cleaning.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday with varying shifts from sunrise to sunset, including some weekends. Must fly at least twice per month and be available at least 10 days per month excluding PTO.
- Completes required online safety and security training.
- Maintains pilot flying and medical currency.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 500 flight hours, including 50 hours in tailwheel aircraft; tow endorsement preferred.
- Experience with Air Force Flight Operations is a plus.
- Current FAA Class II medical certification.
- Commercial Pilot Certificate ASEL.
- U.S. citizenship and valid driver's license.
- Successful background and drug screening.
