Position Overview

The Director will provide ongoing instructional coaching and professional development to BOPN teachers across 3 - 8 locations in the Boston area. We offer flexibility for either part-time or full-time roles, depending on the candidates location, preferences, and expertise. The start date is flexible. Compensation ranges from approximately $63,000 to $70,000, plus health and dental benefits.

About BOPN

Boston Outdoor Preschool Network (BOPN) is a nonprofit dedicated to nature-based early childhood education. We serve communities in Boston, Milton, Malden, Sudbury, Sherborn, and Natick, promoting physical and mental health, environmental stewardship, and essential habits of mind such as curiosity, initiative, and creativity. Our programs include toddler and preschool offerings, and we are expanding access through partnerships and initiatives like Bostons first free nature preschool at Franklin Park Zoo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teacher Coaching and Professional Development: Support teachers' growth through mentorship, coaching rounds, and feedback, fostering a culture of learning and community. Assist in defining professional goals, re-examining routines, and storytelling to strengthen community identity.
  • Program Operations: Coordinate logistics, ensure safety protocols, respond to communications, and assist with licensing compliance. Substitute teach as needed.
  • Marketing and Community Engagement: Collaborate on marketing efforts, create social media content, host family events, and conduct tours for prospective families.
  • Qualifications
    • EEC Director Certification required.
    • Minimum five years as a Lead Teacher in a nature-based early childhood program; experience as a director preferred.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in digital tools like Google Suite and ProCare.
    • Ability to travel between program sites and hike varied terrains.
    • Experience with anti-bias education is a plus; bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
