Salary : $70,106.00 - $105,160.00 Annually Location : Tumwater, WA Job Type: Full Time Job Number: AIRSPC25 Department: Olympia Regional Airport Opening Date: 08/04/2025 Closing Date: 8/31/2025 11:59 PM Pacific Job Description Under the direction of the Airport Senior Manager, the Airport Operations and Administration Specialist assists with planning and organizing airside and landside operations at Olympia Regional Airport; monitors airport operations for compliance with federal, state and local laws; issues Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for surface closures and condition reporting as appropriate; mitigates wildlife hazards; responds to emergencies; and assists with the coordination of emergency activities. This position reviews and acts on matters involving safety, security, customer service, certification, and other related matters as they impact aircraft operators, tenants, and customers. The position assists in overseeing contractor safety and updates airport plans, including emergency, security, and wildlife plans. This position may also be called upon to assist the Airport Senior Manager with capital and maintenance projects, as required. This position also provides the administrative functions required by the airport and is generally the first public point of contact for the airport. The position provides customer service to internal and external customers, provides appropriate referrals to those contacting the airport, manages the hangar rental program, maintains airport secure access control, tracks statistical data, manages federal and state grants, assists with the development of airport website content, and performs general office management and clerical functions on a daily basis. Normal work hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. Given that the airport operates 24 hours a day/365 days per year, the position may be required to work in an on-call capacity in partnership with the Airport Senior Manager. Such work shifts may consist of variable hours, including duty during night hours and on weekends and holidays, as required. Examples of Duties The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate with Port staff where and as needed to promote a positive work environment. Maintain strong customer relations with both internal and external customers. Communicate by phone, letter, email and in person to inquiries regarding airport operations. Compose and edit correspondence, website content, narrative and statistical memoranda and reports; assemble and summarize information and data. Update airport plans and documents. Serve as the primary liaison between hangar and business tenants, air traffic control, airport management and maintenance staff. Administer state and federal airport capital improvement project grants. Manage rental of airport hangars, plane ports and aircraft tie downs. Prepare and administer agreements for the use of airport facilities. Manage the airport's secure access control system, cameras, and radios. Prepare and administer wildlife control permits. Manage damage claim incident reporting and remedial action with involved parties and insurance providers. Assist in the development and implementation of annual budgets. Participate as an active member and department representative on Port committees. Oversee airfield safety to include inspecting, identifying, preventing, responding to and/or removing all hazards to aviation including Foreign Object Debris (FOD), wildlife, Vehicle/Pedestrian Deviations (V/PDs), and disabled aircraft. Performs airfield, perimeter, and landside inspections, for compliance with various federal, state, and local regulations, leases and agreements, noting deficiencies and reporting via the airport's work order system. Manage and issues NOTAMs as needed to communicate operational information and/or hazards to flight crews and users. Conduct airfield driver training program. Provide vehicle and aircraft escorts as requested. Provide general administrative support to Airport Senior Manager. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business, or related field. OR Associate's degree in related field plus two years of direct experience in aviation management OR Four years of direct experience in aviation management and/or as an office administrator. AND

- Possession of, or be able to obtain, a Washington State Driver's License.
Desired:
- Possession of pilot certificate
- Completion of American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Basic and/or Advanced Airport Safety & Operations Specialist (ASOS)
- Experience in airport operations
Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
- Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, with ability to learn new programs that may be introduced in the future.
- Demonstrated ability to compose accurate written documents in the form of non-routine correspondence, reports, studies, and web content is a prerequisite.
