Salary: $18.08 - $26.97 Hourly Location : Kenosha, WI Job Type: Regular - Part Time Job Number: 202509312-2 Department: Airport Opening Date: 08/22/2025 Closing Date: 9/14/2025 11:59 PM Central General Overview of Position This is a regular part-time position with a set work schedule of approximately 19-23 hours per week, which may include evenings and holidays at times. This position performs a variety of manual unskilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of the grounds, buildings, vehicles, and equipment owned by the Kenosha Regional Airport. This is a part-time position and is not guaranteed to transition to a full-time role Work is performed under the general direction of the Airport Director and supervision of the Lead Airport Maintenance Technician. Tasks typically follow established procedures, though detailed instructions are provided for unusual or complex assignments. Work is reviewed by inspection and review. The employee in this classification may operate specialized equipment that could require specific skills. Example of Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs airfield lighting, safety, and security inspections, noting irregularities on daily reports.
  • Operates aviation radio to communicate with Air Traffic Control and pilots when working on the airfield.
  • Performs checks, inspections, general cleaning, and janitorial duties of airport owned facilities.
  • Performs minor building maintenance and repairs of airport owned facilities.
  • Operates equipment associated with summer airport grounds maintenance, such as push and riding mowers, utility vehicles, chain saws, weed trimmers, edgers, and various outdoor hand tools.
  • Operates equipment associated with winter airport grounds maintenance, such as walk-behind snow blowers, utility vehicles, pickup trucks, tractors, and dump trucks equipped with snow plows or snow blower attachments, along with other various outdoor tools.
  • Performs inspections, minor preventative maintenance, and repairs on airport vehicles and equipment.
  • Assists in performing airfield lighting repairs utilizing the established lockout out tagout procedure.
  • Responds to and notifies appropriate personnel of emergencies or incidents at the airport.
  • May perform emergency work on short notice regardless of weather conditions.
  • May issue Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) on Digital NOTAM Manager website.
  • Interacts and works with airport tenants to address concerns.
  • Performs other related work as required.
Requirements Training and Experience:
  • High school diploma, GED or HSED.
  • General facilities and grounds maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Experience operating and maintaining grounds maintenance equipment is desirable.
  • Any experience in airport operations and/or pilot certification is desirable but not necessary.
  • CDL not required.
Must be able to work this schedule:
  • Wednesdays: 12 pm - 4 pm
  • Thursdays & Fridays: 11 am - 4 pm
  • Saturdays: 6 am - 3 pm
  • Ability to work holidays on a reduced shift if necessary.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies outside of this work schedule if necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations pertaining to airports and aircraft is desirable.
  • It is desirable to have familiarity with the runway and taxiway structure at Kenosha Regional Airport.
  • Ability to operate equipment utilized in airport maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the general public, and airport tenants.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to complete work within specified time limits.
  • Ability to handle reasonably necessary stress.
  • Good attendance.
  • Ability to work alone and make decisions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Task occasionally involves regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pound) items and occasionally very heavy (100 pounds or over) items; or may involve the complex operation of gasoline, electric, or diesel-powered machinery or shop equipment requiring the manipulation of multiple controls, fine adjustments or both; or the sustained operation of such devices.
  • Task may involve the continuous operation of hand and power tools and the full range of shop equipment to very exacting tolerances, calling for full coordination of sensory and manipulative ability in order to achieve full production to acceptable standards.
  • Task may involve occasional heavy lifting or moving, but the emphasis is placed upon the coordination and manipulation skills.
Environmental Requirements:
  • Task requires that work occasionally be performed in adverse environmental conditions.
Sensory Requirements:
  • Task requires perception and discrimination in sound, odor, color, depth, texture and visual.
  • Task requires oral communications ability.

CITY OF KENOSHA SUMMARY OF BENEFITS For Nonrepresented Regular Part-Time and Temporary Employees Excludes Crossing Guards and Library employees. Regular part-time and temporary employees are covered under the Rules & Regulations of the City of Kenosha's Civil Service System as non-represented employees. Regular part-time employees may be eligible for benefits based upon hours worked per year. Not all employees will be eligible for the benefits listed below. Wages and benefits provided by the Library may be different than those listed below. Please contact the with questions. Wages The wage range for each City job classification is set by a compensation plan approved by the City of Kenosha. The wage rates for some nonrepresented part-time positions are divided into steps; others may only have one set rate of pay. If applicable, employees normally start at the first step (Step 1/A). Subsequent step increases, if any, are typically awarded at one (1) year intervals and are based upon minimum achievement of a satisfactory evaluation. Part-time and temporary employees are paid an hourly wage based on their classification. Library personnel are paid based on a wage schedule set and approved by the Library Board. Please refer to the currentfor more information. Direct Deposit Payroll is made by for all employees. Employees must designate a checking or savings account (of their choice) at the time of hire. Salaried employees are paid on the 15th and last day of each month. Hourly employees are paid weekly on Fridays for the hours worked in the previous work week (Sunday - Saturday). Pension Employees who meet Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) eligibility requirements are enrolled in the and are required to contribute one-half of the yearly pension contribution percentage as determined by WRS. The City contributes the other half of the total required amount into the employee's retirement account. The current contribution rate for non-represented (general) employees is 13.1%. The total contribution is calculated based on gross wages paid to the employee for each pay period. Life Insurance Term group life insurance coverage is provided to employees who participate in the WRS through the Coverage amount is based on annual salary rounded to the next highest $1,000. The premium for Basic Plan coverage is paid by the City for active employees. Additional coverage and/or supplemental levels of coverage are available to employees at their own expense. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following thirty (30) days from the date of hire. FICA Alternative Those employees not expected to meet the hours requirement set by the WRS to qualify for the pension program are required to participate in a FICA Alternative Program. Your earnings from this job may not be covered under Social Security. When you retire, or if you become disabled, you may receive a pension based on earnings from this job. If you do, and you are also entitled to a benefit from Social Security based on either your own work or the work of your husband or wife, or former husband or wife, your pension may affect the amount of the Social Security benefit you receive.
