How will your role impact First Command?

The Licensed Investment Operations Representative will carry out the functions and goals of the Brokerage Operations department and play a key role in the Client Experience. They will execute a variety of time-sensitive financial transactions, adapt priorities to meet deadlines, and work on various tasks depending on volume. Additionally, they will participate in organizational initiatives such as Agile Release Trains, shared services, or innovation projects in service, operations, and technology. The role requires maintaining flexibility and acquiring new skills to positively impact the organization.

What will you be doing?

The Licensed Investment Operations Representative will:

  • Process account updates, including money movements and miscellaneous requests for managed, brokerage, and direct fund accounts.
  • Respond to advisor/client inquiries, explaining concepts and strategies clearly and simply.
  • Research and resolve complex issues within and outside the department and in field offices.
  • Use decision-making skills to protect clients' interests while minimizing corporate exposure.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and training to enhance the client and advisor experience.
  • Organize and report on production and quality data to identify trends and improve processes.
  • Monitor regulatory changes that may impact clients and advisors.
  • Participate in job rotation for cross-training and career development.

What skills/qualifications do you need?

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or related field, or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • At least five years of work experience in a business setting (required).
  • At least three years of relevant experience in financial services such as Client Services, Trading, Brokerage Operations, Investment Operations, or Insurance Operations (required).
  • Service experience is highly preferred.
  • FINRA Series 7 license (required).
  • FINRA Series 63 license may be required depending on responsibilities.

Additional Abilities

  • Manage workload to meet same-day service levels with accuracy, balancing priorities, quality, and productivity.
  • Strong analytical, data-mining, and problem-solving skills to identify trends and communicate concerns.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime when needed.
  • Confidence, professionalism, and skill to resolve critical issues effectively, strengthening client relationships and mitigating risk.
  • Knowledge of Agile and/or Lean methodologies.
  • Drive to make an impact with a sense of urgency and self-confidence.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and handle elevated workloads.
