This position oversees the maintenance of agency aircraft and requires expertise in aircraft engines, parts, and systems, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance. Responsibilities include managing third-party maintenance contracts and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, departmental standards, and cooperative agency requirements.
Duties involve scheduling, coordinating, and inspecting maintenance projects, monitoring costs and contractor performance, and conducting routine aircraft maintenance as needed. Under general direction, this position inspects, certifies, directs, and assists in the repair, maintenance, and overhaul of various aircraft, from light single-engine piston aircraft and helicopters to single engine turbine aircraft and helicopters.OUR ORGANIZATION, MISSION, AND CULTURE:The mission of the Department of Public Safety is to ensure public safety and enforce fish and wildlife laws. This position is located and based out of our Fairbanks Aircraft Section. The work environment is friendly, team-oriented, and productive. Our Fairbanks-based Aircraft Section operates from the airports located within the Golden Heart City of Fairbanks often from Fairbanks International Airport or one of the nearby landing areas.
The work schedule is 5 days on and 2 days off. This position does not offer housing nor does it offer someone living outside of Fairbanks paid travel to and from the worksite.
