Air Quality and Climate Change Specialist

Northern or Southern CA

As an Air Quality and Climate Change Specialist, you will lead air quality and greenhouse gas emissions inventory development, health risk assessments, photochemical and dispersion modeling, environmental impact analysis, climate action planning, and report preparation for projects supporting ICF's Environmental Planning practice.

Starting pay range: $80,000 to $100,000, based on qualifications, experience, responsibilities, and location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead impact analyses for land use development, infrastructure, and roadway projects
  • Quantify emissions, pollutant concentrations, and health risks using models and spreadsheets
  • Research and interpret relevant legislation and policy
  • Solve quantitative and qualitative problems
  • Interact with clients in public and private sectors
  • Support development of climate action plans for local governments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or related sciences, Economics, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • 3+ years of experience with air quality and GHG impact analyses under CEQA/NEPA
  • Valid driver's license and successful MVR check

Additional Skills

  • Experience with air quality models (EMFAC, CalEEMod, CALINE-4, MOVES), dispersion models (AERMOD, HARP), and meteorological models (WFR)
  • Understanding of federal and state environmental policies (CEQA, NEPA, SB 32, Clean Air Act)
  • Ability to independently perform technical analyses and report writing
  • Strong quantitative skills, proficiency in MS Excel
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication with diverse stakeholders
  • Sound business ethics and confidentiality

Pay Range

The final pay depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors. The range for full-time employment is $66,730 to $113,440, based on a remote California office.
