JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director Design & Construction will lead complex renovation and construction projects across our hospitality portfolio. This role will oversee all aspects of project delivery—from pre-construction planning and budgeting to design coordination and on-site execution—ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. This position requires deep expertise in project management principles, construction budgeting, and contract negotiation, along with exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills. The ability to operate strategically while managing details is essential to success in this role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field required.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with a strong emphasis on design, construction, and renovation projects within the hospitality or real estate industry.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex Property Improvement Plans (PIP) and overseeing both Full Service and Select Service hotel renovation and construction projects.
- Proven expertise in budget development, cost estimation, and construction cost pricing.
- Strong background in the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), bid evaluation and leveling, vendor recommendation, stakeholder approval processes, and end-to-end management of design and construction initiatives.
- Experience leading and growing a project management team; prior experience supervising project managers is required.
- Direct collaboration experience with architects, interior designers, contractors, and procurement professionals is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies, including tools and techniques such as Gantt charts, critical path method, resource leveling, and budget variance analysis.
- Familiarity with project management and construction software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Procore, Smartsheet, etc.) and general management information systems (MIS).
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities; able to conduct thorough process and system reviews and synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships across internal teams and external partners.

- Effectively communicate project expectations, project goals, and scope to the team.
- Conduct engagement reviews and confirm all projects have thorough business cases with measurable benefits and costs.
- Review high-level deliverables across the portfolio of projects and recommend cost-effective solutions to address business challenges and/or opportunities.
- Lead cross-functional teams, working with all relevant stakeholders to refine strategy, gather and document requirements to identify potential impact in terms of results (cost, quality, timeliness) and process, operations, technology, organization (including people) and finances.
- Implement project management strategic initiatives that are aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
- Act as a liaison and build strong working relationships with various stakeholders to identify project sponsorship and support.
- Managing the team's conclusions of projects and facilitate turnover to project sponsor.
- Concludes all projects with post-project reviews.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Lead and manage direct reports.
