Implement scheduled activities according to age, interest, and development level of the children. Working constructively with director, head teacher, teacher, and teacher's aides in educational, nutritional, or statistical matters that would concern the Children's Center. Communicate with parents daily or through conferences any needs, concerns, progression, and development of their child. Model appropriate behavior for assistants, aides, and children. Periodically observe, assess, and track the growth and development of children. Take active part in staff meetings, trainings, and community awareness that would enhance the Children's Center. The teacher's aide position is responsible to the Head Teacher, Director, and Division Director. Responsibilities Must be able to:
- Apply a good understanding of early childhood education, growth, and development to appropriate activities.
- Willingly accept supervision.
- Work with children calmly nurturing, encouraging, and supporting in a non-judgmental environment.
- Assist the parent in meeting the social-emotional, physical, and developmental needs of their child through program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Oversee all ages in and aspects of the daily routine, stooping, kneeling, squatting, holding, grasping, and lifting the weights of the children.
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and non-stressful environment.
- Have overall knowledge of nutrition, health, and first aide and be able to apply that knowledge specifically and generally in the classroom.
- Enhance positive relationships with children, parents, other staff members, and community.
- Be cheerful, flexible, and promote team spirit with fellow workers.
- Represent Good Shepherd Community Hospital's mission, policies and procedures, and confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred Register with the Central Oregon Background Registry, prior to employment or immediately thereafter. Current First Aid, CPR and Food Handler's Certificate, prior to employment or within 90- days of hire Experience: Experience working in a certified day care center or comparable group childcare program. Other: Be at least 18 years of age. TB Test. Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Oversee all stages and aspects of the daily routine with children requiring the ability to walk or run quickly, kneel, or sit on floor, bend, and lift, walk over rough or uneven ground, exposure to weather, etc. Lift and move heavy and/or bulky objects or children up to 45 lbs. Maintain the safety of the environment and children through visual, auditory, and smelling senses. 40 Hours USD $17.31/Hr. USD $26.51/Hr. Varied Shifts
