Perplexity is seeking experienced AI Research Scientists to continue to improve our in house Online LLMs, the Sonar models. Your job is to turn research ideas into algorithms and implement them, running experiments and launch new models, and stay on top of the latest research on LLMs, especially model training and optimization. Responsibilities include understanding the newest models and algorithms coming every week, especially in post-training; inventing in-house improvements and optimizations to enhance SOTA models; post-training LLMs on query answering by using the latest in supervised and reinforcement learning techniques; and working closely with engineering teams to integrate Sonar models into our product. Qualifications include proven experience with LLM research and Deep Learning systems, strong programming skills, being a self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks, passion for tackling challenging problems, and a minimum of 6 years of working on relevant projects. Nice-to-have qualifications include a PhD in Machine Learning or related areas and experience on academia publications and impact.
