Your role and responsibilities
The AI Research Partnership Intern supports the acceleration the technology roadmap for IBM and Red Hat's product portfolio, particularly in AI, through collaborations between IBM Research and organizations outside of IBM leading in their respective domains. This intern will work closely with stakeholders internal and external to company across product, go-to-market and research disciplines. This role is a critical enabler of IBM securing market leadership in AI for business.
Required technical and professional expertise
Can demonstrate ability to project manage across multiple departments and partners
Tools evidence on resume: links to project artifacts (roadmaps, dashboards), or screenshots/URLs where appropriate.
Experience with productivity tools (e.g., Monday Work Management, Airtable, Jira, Asana, Notion)
Experience coordinating cross-functional teams of 5+ members
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Strong strategic thinking, relationship management, & technical skills
Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Python, or R)
Produced market/tech landscapes and competitive analyses; built simple business cases (TAM/SAM/SOM, ROI, partner fit).
Built hands-on demos/PoCs using Python/Jupyter/REST APIs/Git/etc
Designed evaluation plans for AI features (e.g., task success, latency, cost, model quality metrics); wrote decision memos.
Evidence: GitHub links, demo videos, short technical briefs included/linked on resume
Confident and influential interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively present to and groups at all levels
Created and delivered C-suite briefings and technical deep-dives; facilitated decision meetings/workshops (Design Thinking).
Produced clear one-pagers and narratives; practiced data storytelling with Tableau/Power BI/Looker/etc visuals.
Experience creating and delivering technical presentations (PowerPoint, Keynote)
Previous roles requiring executive briefings, client presentations, or conference speaking
Experience writing technical documentation, reports, or proposals
Leadership roles in student organizations, teaching assistant positions, or team captain experience.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Experience with Enterprise AI Tools and Platforms: Possess experience of working with these products, with a particular emphasis in AI (training Across the product suite will be provided)
Client or partner-facing experience
