Salary: $16.50 - $24.00 Hourly Location : Bakersfield, CA Job Type: Seasonal Part Time Job Number: 202500058 Department: Recreation Division: Sports Opening Date: 07/18/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Description This recruitment is for individuals that HAVE ALREADY BEEN SELECTED for an Afterschool Site Coordinator or Afterschool Coach position, by either an NOR Recreation Manager or a school Site Coordinator and the individual was directed to submit an application to start the hiring process for the elementary school's Afterschool Sports Program (ie: Open League-Volleyball or Basketball, Flag Football, Track, Cross Country). Examples of Duties DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The afterschool sports program's objective is for a safe healthy environment for kids to grow and thrive. Practices and games are weekday afternoons and/or Saturdays dependent of the sports program. Site Coordinators supervise coaches ensuring that coaches organize and conduct practices in accordance with program guidelines. Coaches are expected to teach the basic fundamentals of the game, teamwork and sportsmanship, allowing the kids to have fun while learning the game. Quality Assurance: Provide outstanding customer service; interact with customers and co-workers in a positive and courteous manner; as a team member, responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of services. Typical QualificationsAfterschool Site Coordinator - Must be at least 21 years of age with one year of experience in a supervisory capacity and possess organizational and leadership skills. Requires knowledge of rules of the specific sport and must be able to provide direction to others. Afterschool Coach - Must be at least 16 years old with 1 years' experience in coaching or teaching. May substitute knowledge for experience. All positions - must be able to establish, relate, and maintain good working relationships with management, staff, co-workers, participants, and parents; deal tactfully with others; understand and follow written and oral instructions; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; interact courteously with the public, participants and other district staff; and must be able to accommodate the required program schedule. Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions; can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to correction and feedback from a supervisor.
