Summary: New York Edge is seeking a passionate, mission-driven team-builder to fill the After School Program Director role. In this full-time role, you will be accountable for the growth, quality, and success of the assigned after-school program operation, its students, and staff. The primary responsibility of the Program Director is to manage the day-to-day operations to ensure that New York Edge quality standards and guidelines are met and that the program meets all contract requirements. You will foster an atmosphere of fun and learning, utilizing a broad range of sports and arts-related activities where the concept of teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship can flourish and serve as a role model to youth.
Schedule: Monday-Friday (Days/shifts vary depending on site needs) This role requires you to be in person.
Pay: $58,500 - $62,500 (salary offer will be commensurate with experience and education)
Essential Job FunctionsBachelor's degree required with preference in Education, Psychology, or Social Work. At least 18.0 credit hours from an accredited college or university in the field of Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field preferred.
Experience RequirementMinimum of three (3) years experience in urban education, youth development or community organizing with at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth & adolescents in New York City.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAbility to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflow, while maintaining a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with staff, students, and entire school community. Strong understanding of New York City and New York State education requirements in an urban setting. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals both in person, virtually and over the phone, applying tact and discretion as situations demand. Must be able to articulate outcome requirements and provide the necessary and appropriate resources and support for school and New York Edge staff members to successfully deliver on objectives. Knowledge of after-school programs, supervising staff, and program planning. Ability to de-escalate potentially risky or difficult situations. Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Work Environment & Physical DemandsWork is performed mostly within a New York City Public School but is required to interact with the community at-large during events, outreach, and trips. May be required to walk up and down stairs, lift or move objects/materials as needed. Work hours will be consistent Monday through Friday with potential for some weekend or evening scheduled activities or events.
