Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The AFATDS Database Manager is responsible for constructing scenarios, operating, and maintaining databases for JLCCTC-ERF/ JLCCTC Ver. 8.1 simulations and Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data systems (AFATDS). These duties include:
- Operate, instruct, and maintain computer-based training for simulations/models across various military domains such as Maneuver, Aviation, Logistics, Fires, and Military Intelligence.
- Research and extract factual data on military forces for models and simulations.
- Review classified materials and recommend appropriate classification levels for use in various training and reporting scenarios.
- Edit doctrinal manuscripts, analyze issues, and develop solutions for simulation training events.
- Translate real-world or fictional military data into simulation databases.
- Conduct pre-event testing and evaluation of supporting databases and data parameters.
- Participate in conferences and meetings, providing recommendations on model/simulation employment.
- Analyze emerging simulation technologies, draft test plans, conduct tests, publish results, and maintain training scenarios for future exercises.
- Train, operate, and maintain new or upgraded models/simulations as they are introduced.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred; four years of DoD modeling and simulation experience may substitute.
- Microsoft Office Certification preferred.
Military Education
- Minimum of four years' experience in military training and education preferred.
- Attendance at Career Level School or equivalent nonresident course is desirable.
Experience
- Three years' experience with scenario construction, database operation, and maintenance for systems like JLCCTC-ERF/ JLCCTC Ver. 8.1 and AFATDS.
- At least five years of operational experience in relevant military functions.
- Minimum two years in DoD modeling and simulation, with experience in models like WARSIM, VBS, JCATS, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Windows and MS Office.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Additional Information
- Position contingent on contract award.
- Requires extended sitting, local travel, and ability to obtain security clearance.
