Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. J-STD_001, 002, IPC 610, MIL-STD-883, or NASA std's certification may be required within 30 days of hire. CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

As a Quality Specialist for General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Precision Structures & Optics (PSO), you'll be a member of a cross functional team primarily responsible for providing Quality Support and Oversight of 16-PIGA Manufacturing, reviewing 16-PIGA data packs prior to delivery to the customer, interfacing with our customer to address any Quality concerns, internal audits of 16-PIGA manufacturing areas, trend analysis of applicable manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement in Quality Inspection areas, assuring that effective root cause and corrective actions are developed, and supporting other quality concerns/initiatives, as needed. The Quality Specialist will play a significant role ensuring all processes adhere to quality standards for the manufacture of Beryllium products for use in the most demanding applications, across the aerospace, defense, and nuclear industries. Our products are used in high performance sensing systems for targeting and acquisition, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, and are hardened for the battlefield environment.

  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems; knowledge of inspection procedures, techniques, specifications, and drawings with a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with the organization, schedule, and administration of internal audits
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and communication skills in order to identify and communicate quality issues within the organization

Representative Duties and Tasks:

  • Working knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.
  • Experience with preventative action using pro-active metrics, statistical process control, PFMEA, and surveillance activities
  • Experience with data pack review, data analysis, and First Article Inspection IAW AS9100/AS9102 requirements
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of Quality Inspection Plans and documented quality inspection procedures
  • Strong knowledge of metrology and instrumentation, including CMM
  • Experience leading a Quality Inspection area in a machine shop environment
  • Solid computer skills, strong knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving aptitude
  • Strong collaborative teamwork; experience in cross-functional project teams a plus
  • Strong Customer Support experience
  • May perform/lead audits
  • May lead continuous improvement teams/activities
  • Verifies compliance to defined processing
  • Reviews drawings for conformance to requirements
  • Authors QA processing documentation
  • Determines and manages handling of returned products
  • Determines/evaluates root cause and corrective action
  • Prioritizes schedule for Quality department

Target salary range: USD $89,221.00/Yr. - USD $96,540.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
