We have an exciting opportunity for an Active Thermal Controls Subsystem Manager to join the JETS II team. Our long-standing partnership with NASA has created a need for an Active Thermal Control System (ATCS) Subsystem Manager (SSM) to support multiple programs.

The Active Thermal Control System (ATCS) Subsystem Manager (SSM) will:

  • Review system architectures, hardware requirements, designs, assembly procedures, test plans, and data for ATCS in spacecraft to ensure approaches are sound, components/materials are appropriate, and suitable for the application.
  • Assess data products submitted by Commercial Providers, review architectures, designs, and performance against RFP requirements.
  • Provide oversight and support to providers, including major reviews, questions, comments, and risk escalation.
  • Recommend program acceptance criteria for requirements verification, testing, and hazards.
  • Suggest improvements to system architectures, hardware, designs, test plans, and procedures if disparities or deficiencies are found.
  • Review qualification test reports and resolve anomalies during spacecraft ATCS certification.
  • Review hazard reports and verification products.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about project development and operations.
  • Participate in program milestones such as verification activities and qualification events.
  • Travel as needed for reviews, testing, and technical exchanges.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications - External

This position is posted at multiple levels; we may consider candidates at any level based on experience and business needs.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience with design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space ATCS systems and components such as pumps, valves, coolant loops, cold plates, heat exchangers, sublimators, radiators, etc.
  • Experience coordinating requirements verification and validation across organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to support multidisciplinary teams.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical system design, drawings, material selection, testing, and office software.

Preferences

  • Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft and ATCS systems.
  • Experience with the Engineering Life Cycle process.

Essential Functions

Work environment is primarily office-based but may involve outdoor work depending on tasks.
