Recruitment And Admissions Specialist

Compensation: $46,297 Exempt Employment Type: Regular Grade: E01

Position Summary: This position performs specialized duties in support of the college's student recruitment and admissions functions. Some evening and weekend work is necessary for completion of the job duties of this position.

Major Duties:

  • Visits area high schools and organizations to recruit students and promote San Juan College.
  • Coordinates and conducts campus tours.
  • Engages with prospects during recruiting and admissions outreach campaigns.
  • Interacts and engages with potential recruits and tracks prospective student interest.
  • Performs ongoing outreach to prospects who are not advancing through enrollment funnel.
  • Assists director in planning and implementing new recruiting efforts.
  • Schedules and coordinates campus college fairs, job fairs, and community events.
  • Assists in the processing of prospect cards, student applications, required documents and high school transcripts.
  • Assists director in reviewing and updating social media and web content platforms to ensure relevant, timely and accurate information.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

  • Skill in working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in utilization of the CRM (Recruit).

Supervisory Controls: The Director of Admissions assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines: Guidelines include Family Education Rights and Privacy Act regulations and college policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.

Complexity/Scope of Work: The work consists of varied specialized duties. The variety of questions from potential students contributes to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to perform specialized duties in the recruitment and admission of students. Success in this position contributes to the successful enrollment of students.

Contacts: Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, potential students, representatives of high schools, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping or walking. The employee occasionally lifts light objects. The work is typically performed in an office. Some evening and weekend work is necessary for completion of the job duties of this position.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility: This position supervises assigned work study students.

Minimum Qualifications: An associate's degree is required, bachelor's degree preferred. Two years of work experience similar to the duties and responsibilities listed here is required. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of New Mexico for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. This position may require that you utilize your own personal vehicle or have the ability to rent a vehicle from a college approved vendor.
