The Maryland Department of Commerce is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Program Director, Independent Artist Services within the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC). This is a Special Appointment position, serving at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. Main Purpose of JobThe Program Director facilitates grants administration for programs such as the Independent Artist Awards and Grants for Artists, collaborating with MSAC staff on other initiatives that support independent artists.
Position DutiesThis role involves creating, planning, and executing all aspects of assigned programs, including determining eligibility, managing the grants process, processing funding recommendations, providing technical assistance and training to artists and panelists, and making policy recommendations aligned with MSAC's mission. The Director oversees grantee compliance with MSAC and state policies.
The successful candidate will possess:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent. Experience: Four years of administrative or professional work in a relevant setting. Notes: Substitutions include college credits or degrees in arts-related fields, or U.S. Armed Forces military service involving relevant staff work.
Desired or Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates with:
Applicants must possess a valid Maryland driver's license if required for duties involving vehicle operation.
