Position Details Position Information Internal Posting?Posting Number SP004378P Position Title Administrative Specialist Division/College College of Agricultural & Life Sciences Department Eastern District Location Off Campus Location - Custer County Extension Office, Challis ID Posting Context Statement Reporting to the Custer County Extension Educator, focusing on office operations including finance and administration. The Extension Office in Custer County staff position will perform a variety of tasks, with little or no supervision, keeping office hours 5 days a week. This position will perform a wide variety of clerical, reception, bookkeeping, and program support functions for the Extension Educator as assigned or required. This is an off-campus location. Work site is in Challis, Idaho. Position Overview Assist with administrative tasks including preparing correspondence, maintaining records, maintaining calendars, monitoring office inventory, ordering supplies when necessary and completing various assignments as needed. This position may be the first point of contact for the department, and is tasked with ensuring that information flows accurately, efficiently and effectively while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. Duties may include:
- Manage records and documents
- Perform general administrative support tasks such as proofreading and receiving and distributing mail; may handle cash
- Greet visitors, callers and/or email inquiries, determining nature and purpose and directing them to specific destinations/individuals/information
- Other duties as assigned

- Agriculture industry and the 4-H Youth Development programs and operations
- Designing and maintaining webpages, and social media sites (such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) in a professional manner
- Ability to remain calm and professional when working with adults and youth in stressful situations
- Bookkeeping and using bookkeeping software (Quickbooks), creating and maintaining budgets and financial documents such as profit and loss statements, preparing accounts payable and receivable, balancing checkbooks, and reconciling monthly bank statements
- Reception duties, including meeting and greeting the public, taking detailed messages, and possessing good phone etiquette and customer service skills
