Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) is a public entity that is an educational cooperative under the State of South Dakota. BHSSC is comprised of five divisions dedicated to aiding school districts, individuals, and the communities. Join our team as an Administrative Assistant supporting the Developmental Disabilities Division at BHSSC. This role is key to keeping our operations running smoothly-handling scheduling, maintaining training records, supporting new employee onboarding, and other administrative tasks to support the division. Wage- $20-$24 per hour Job Type- Full-time, non-exempt Work Location- Sturgis, SD Job Description-

  • Answer incoming phone calls during office hours, direct inquiries to the appropriate staff, and provide courteous and professional assistance to callers, visitors, and team members.
  • Facilitate the setup process for new hires in the DD Division, including preparing onboarding materials, coordinating workspace and technology needs, and ensuring timely access to necessary systems and documentation.
  • Learn and maintain working knowledge of the Therap platform to support data entry, reporting, and system navigation for staff and program needs.
  • Assist with the scheduling of staff shifts, meetings, and trainings by maintaining calendars, resolving conflicts, and communicating updates to relevant personnel.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the employee training database.
  • Track and update training records for program participants, ensuring documentation is complete and accessible for audits and internal reviews.
  • Keep the DD Division policy manual current by incorporating updates, formatting revisions, and distributing changes to staff as needed.
  • Assist in the facilitation of BHSSC's statewide Special Education (SPED) testing.
  • Develop and manage additional databases to support division operations, such as tracking program metrics, equipment inventories, or compliance documentation.
  • Send timely notifications regarding school late starts and closures.
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications-
  • High School Diploma
  • Strong proficiency with computers and in Microsoft Office; ability to learn other web-based platforms
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
  • Valid Driver's License
