Salary: $15.92 Hourly Location : Beaumont, TX Job Type: Full Time Job Number: 5988 Department: Planning & Community Development Division: Code Enforcement Opening Date: 09/08/2025 Duties and Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Maintains general office files; prepares and inputs billing; operates computer with specialized software miscellaneous correspondence; prepares probable cause affidavits for municipal court cases; maintains complaint records; receives and refers complaints; prepares cutting request sheets; maintains records for compliance and cutting requests; assists public in contacting other city and state agencies; filing; inputs extensive amounts of data for daily mail outs with deadlines; greets citizens; frequently deals with irate citizens. Other Job Functions: Performs other duties as required. Working Conditions Works indoors in a normal office environment; subject to constant noise of voices and telephones; constant interruptions; must be available to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; overtime when necessary. Minimum Essential Qualifications Knowledge: Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic, knowledge of City geography helpful. Skills/Abilities: Requires excellent communications and interpersonal skills, skill in performing general office and clerical duties; ability to use office equipment such as a calculator, computer, fax machine, copy machine; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees; ability to make minor decisions in accordance with precedents and regulations; ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions with minimal supervision; excellent telephone etiquette required; excellent organizational skills required; ability to type 40-45 wpm. Knowledge of Word and Excel or comparable software. Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently operates a PC: writes by hand, enters data, types, kneels, stands, twists body, sorts, operates a calculator, and files; infrequently carries, drags, holds, lifts, pulls, pushes objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; six (6) months experience in Word and Excel; experience with; minimum two (2) years' experience in clerical work and record keeping preferred. Courses and or seminars in Business preferred. Other Typing test of 40-45 wpm preferred. Skills test will be administered.
