Adjunct Faculty - Mathematics

Adjunct instructors are hired locally or regionally to teach specific courses in which they have particular expertise. They normally teach no more than half of the full-time load. Adjunct instructors receive a letter of appointment for each semester in which they teach; they are paid on a per-course basis. No expectation of continuing employment is implied.

The University of New Haven is searching for Mathematics adjunct instructors to begin in Fall 2025.

You will:

The position supports the instructional needs of the Mathematics and Physics Department in teaching. This plea is for an instructor to teach one or more College Math, College Algebra, Pre-calculus, Calculus I, Calculus II or Calculus III course(s).

  • Courses are primarily offered on-ground, with few sections offered remote or flex
  • Eligible candidates will be asked to present a teaching demonstration (via Zoom) as part of the hiring process.

You need:

  • A master's degree or Ph.D. in Mathematics or related fields
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prepare courses with best pedagogical practice in mind
  • Experience with instructional technology
  • Experience with previous online/remote or hybrid teaching, using web based instructional software, or other learning management systems
  • Familiarity with, or the ability to quickly adopt, the Canvas LMS.
