Location: Vail Health, Vail, CO (or Remote)
Reports To: SVP Finance & CFO
Job Summary: The Director of Business Development is charged with driving and attracting new business to Vail Health using a variety of methods and techniques.
Essential Job Functions:
- Directs and implement processes to develop and implement growth strategies for Vail Health.
- Act as a key figure involved in the development of new service lines which may include conducting focus group testing to determine how a new service line will be received, and report back to executive leadership.
- Establishes results-producing relationships with the referral community including physicians, discharge planners, payers and other community stakeholders.
- Works with existing service lines in new markets, trying to find the most effective introductory strategy into those markets.
- Researches best practices and creates innovative ideas to present to leadership.
- Educate team members and referral sources about Vail Health and clinic services as related to industry changes, specific hospital clinical programs and capabilities, clinical outcomes and appropriate patient referrals/admissions.
- Develops and fosters relationships with outside customers as well as internal customers.
- Provides ample communication and a spirit of cooperation between all parties.
- Provide consultative services across all areas of the organization with one or more of the following focuses: to improve performance within governance, portfolio management, assess/monitor the risk of portfolio programs, and communication/change management.
- Assess and recommend corrective actions to address performance gaps (scope, schedule, budget, risk) for high impact project and programs.
- Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
Job requirements:
- Seven (7) years in the healthcare industry dealing directly with managed care activity, consulting/public experience or other related responsibilities required.
- Healthcare sales or market experience preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, reimbursement and regulatory standards.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills.
- Proven success in driving market growth, relationship development and training/mentoring of team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively with members of the marketing and nurse liaison teams to establish and achieve referral goals.
- Professional sales skills required and strong community partnership development.
- Bachelor's degree in business, health care administration or other related field required.
