Job Description:
LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking an Adaptation Specialist to support the configuration, customization, and validation of Terminal Flight Data Manager (TFDM) site adaptation data for FAA deployment locations. This role involves working closely with FAA stakeholders, local air traffic control facilities, airport authorities, and technical teams to ensure that TFDM configurations accurately reflect each site's operational environment. The Adaptation Specialist will play a key role in ensuring system readiness, operational effectiveness, and alignment with FAA standards and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Develop, manage, and validate site adaptation data tailored to each TFDM deployment location (e.g., airports, TRACONs).
Ensure configurations accurately reflect local airspace, surface operations, runway/taxiway layouts, and stakeholder operational procedures.
Collect and analyze local site data, including flight schedules, runway configurations, surveillance inputs, and facility-specific workflows.
Coordinate with FAA site leads, local ATC facilities, and airport authorities to obtain accurate, up-to-date operational data.
Customize TFDM system parameters for surface metering, departure sequencing, runway assignments, and flight data exchange to meet site-specific needs.
Support calibration of algorithms to optimize surface traffic management and throughput.
Utilize FAA-authorized adaptation tools and software to build, test, and deploy configuration files.
Maintain version control and configuration management practices to ensure adaptation data integrity and traceability.
Ensure consistency and compatibility of adaptation data with interfacing systems such as STARS, ERAM, TBFM, and surface surveillance systems.
Coordinate interface configurations to support seamless data exchange and operational interoperability.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Dry Runs to validate adaptation performance.
Conduct pre- and post-deployment validation to ensure systems function as intended under local operating conditions.
Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, airline operators, and airport representatives to define operational needs and validate adaptation outputs.
Collect user feedback and incorporate changes into adaptation updates.
Prepare technical documentation, including adaptation guides, configuration summaries, and release notes.
Maintain records of adaptation changes, rationale, and stakeholder approvals in accordance with FAA change management policies.
Provide on-site or remote support during system transition, ensuring real-time resolution of adaptation-related issues.
Assist controllers and technical staff in understanding adaptation elements during go-live.
Recommend process improvements based on lessons learned, feedback, and evolving operational requirements.
Monitor deployed system performance and propose adaptation refinements to enhance effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
0-4 years of experience for Junior Staff
5-14 years of experience for Mid-level Staff
15+ years of experience for Senior Staff
Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred:
FAA-specific experience with TFDM, STARS, ERAM, TBFM, or other air traffic management systems.
Experience with adaptation/configuration management tools used in FAA environments.
Familiarity with FAA change management policies and processes.
Location: Various - Some on-site support/Hybrid (DC Area, Atlantic City, NJ, Oklahoma City, OK, and other FAA locations).
Travel: Significant travel required.
Physical Requirements: Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer.
Background Check: Must be able to pass a government Public Trust investigation.

Compensation (Pay Bands)
Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40-hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represent the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and are just one component of the LST's total compensation package for employees. ** In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C.
