The Property & Casualty Actuarial Director will participate in the management, control and implementation of rating plans, development and support of rate adequacy, underwriting rules, and process improvements including the analysis of pricing and products. Responsibilities include modeling, reporting, responding to data calls, filings, updates and review of product coverages, packages, features and the support of territorial expansion in our Private Flood Department.
This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help develop grow and maintain profitable Private Flood programs.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning (including, but not limited to):
- Analyze loss trends, identify profitable segments/books of business, participate individually and with outside actuarial resources to report and make recommendations for product improvement, pricing and territorial expansion
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) resource to technical, compliance, operational, finance and training teams
- Coordinate, collaborate, and communicate with Private Flood Management and Teammates, as well as Marketing and Regional Sales Managers on product development, changes and introductions
Product Analysis (including, but not limited to):
- Participate with management and staff to develop and support adequate rates, rate plans and program development
- Assist and respond to data calls from regulators, rating agencies, reinsurers, and/or partners
- Support corporate actuarial analysis and reporting, including reserving analysis, AMBest review and reporting, Product pricing and profitability, loss and profitability analysis and financial models and projections.
Data Analytics (including, but not limited to):
- Run and manage CAT models, including Risk Management runs and regular reports for in-house teammates and external partners
- Monitor and report on the profitability of Private Flood products.
- Assist in managing exposure to ensure agreed upon aggregate limits are not exceeded.
- Provide regulatory expertise to support issues relating to rating plans, rules and endorsements, and similar
- Develop, coordinate, track and monitor ultimately to approval, state filings for product introduction and rate changes
Unless otherwise indicated, this is a Hybrid position so you will be required to work in the office as needed or scheduled.

Position Requirements:
Formal Education & Certification
- College diploma or university degree in the field of risk management, finance, business administration, or mathematics preferred; or 7 years related work experience.
- Actuarial training, education and or experience a plus. CAS actuarial designation is a plus.
Knowledge & Experience
- Ability to analyze data and loss trends.
- Ability to develop written proposals.
- Working knowledge PC operating systems, including Windows.
- Extensive experience with core software applications, including Microsoft Suite, Excel, Word, and Access.
- Ability to manage, mentor, train and develop direct reports
