Job Description :

Dixon Healthcare Center, a member of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, is looking for an Activity Director to join our team! This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional who exhibits a team spirit and a desire to increase our residents' quality of life.

The Activity Director role is a full-time, hourly position that directly supervises our Activity Assistants.

**Prior long-term care experience preferred. Certified Activity Director Certification required**

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Creates, operates, and evaluates activities to ensure effectiveness and quality

  • Plan a variety of activities: one-to-one and group activities on/off assigned units, outside, and in the community (outings) for a diversified population as needed.
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate all diversified resident-centered activities.
  • Plan and schedule holiday and special events, religious services, outings, and community involvement.
  • Communicate and coordinate all plans for assigned activities with relevant staff and departments.
  • Involve residents in planning, developing, and evaluating the activities program.
  • Oversee resident participation in their individualized activity programs.
  • Advocate for residents regarding their needs, interests, preferences, and rights.
  • Participate in resident council, family council, and community support groups as needed.
  • Contact families/significant others for resident/family activities, as assigned.
  • Involve families in planning family activities, as needed.
  • Maintain records and reports related to activities.
  • Assist in monitoring programming both within the center and in the community.
  • Participate in fundraising events.
  • Maintain open communication with staff and supervise volunteers as needed.
  • Promote positive community relationships through outings and volunteer activities.
  • Attend and participate in department and committee meetings.
  • Identify and perform disciplinary actions as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial aspects of activities operations and ensure accurate documentation for reimbursement.

    Manage resources effectively to ensure quality care for residents.

  • Assist with development and monitoring of budgets.
  • Submit financial reports to the Administrator.
  • Attend scheduled training, education, and orientation programs to maintain quality of care.

  • Participate in required in-service and training programs.
  • Attend mandatory meetings as required.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents, meeting their needs with kindness, dignity, and respect.

    • Monitor safety regulations and proper use of equipment.
    • Maintain cleanliness and safety in activity and care areas.
    • Assist residents in adjusting to their new environment.
