Position Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Active Thermal Controls Subsystem Manager to join the team with ERC, a teammate company.
Our ongoing partnership with NASA has created a need for an Active Thermal Control System (ATCS) Subsystem Manager (SSM) to support multiple programs.
Note: We are actively searching for qualified candidates for this potential opening; however, the position is not yet finalized or open. We believe it will be approved soon, so we are proceeding with candidate identification and interviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Review system architectures, hardware requirements, designs, assembly procedures, test plans, and data of ATCS for spacecraft to ensure sound approaches, appropriate component/material selection, and suitability for the intended application.
- Review data products submitted by Commercial Providers, assess architecture, designs, and performance against RFP requirements.
- Provide insight and oversight to providers, support major reviews, ask questions, submit comments, and escalate risks.
- Recommend program acceptance criteria for verification, testing, and hazards.
- Suggest improvements to system architectures, hardware requirements, designs, test plans, and procedures if deficiencies are identified.
- Review qualification test reports and resolve anomalies during ATCS certification.
- Review hazard reports and verification products.
- Keep stakeholders informed of project development and operational status.
- Participate as a key reviewer for program milestones such as verification activities and hardware qualification events.
- Travel as needed for technical reviews, testing, and exchanges.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
This position is posted at multiple levels. We will consider candidates at any level based on experience, requirements, and business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Experience with design, assembly, testing, certification, and operation of space ATCS systems, including pumps, valves, coolant loops, cold plates, heat exchangers, sublimators, radiators, during pre-launch, flight, and post-landing phases.
- Experience coordinating requirements verification and validation across organizations.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across technical disciplines.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, testing, and office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with JSC organizations, processes, and procedures.
- Knowledge of spacecraft and ATCS systems.
- Ability to coordinate support from diverse technical teams.
- Understanding of the Engineering Life Cycle process.
