DescriptionCOUNTY OF WARREN WARREN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE- ACCREDITATION AND TRAINING COORDINATOR GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK: Under the general direction of the Sheriff, the purpose of this classification is to perform effective and efficient planning, coordinating, and management of the accreditation and re-accreditation programs. This position is also responsible for managing, scheduling, and registering training for the agency. Administers the accreditation processes to ensure compliance with standards from established State and Federal agencies. The work involves responsibility for gathering information accurately and compiling such information into the necessary format to complete the assigned work with minimal direction. The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS: v Administration of the accreditation process, ensuring compliance with standards developed by state and national accreditation bodies, as applicable. • Manage electronic policy management system, including the proper updating of policies, creation of user accounts, and ensuring accountability for policy review by employees. • Ensure that policies and practices are updated as required by accreditation standard changes. • Prepare the agency for accreditation and re-accreditation assessments. • Represent the Sheriff's Office at various meetings with various agencies, departments, task forces, councils, community groups, associations, commissions, etc. • Develops correspondence to other governmental entities. • Assist other agencies with accreditation program tasks as directed. • Coordinate and serve as host to both national and state on-site assessments conducted every four years. Serves as a liaison between Intra/interagency personnel, and between department and accreditation bodies. • Attends conferences and training to receive education on new trends and standards as it relates to the accreditation. • Maintain, draft, review and revise all agency policies as required by accreditation standard, Sheriff's Office policy or as needed. Maintain current knowledge of State/Federal statutes and regulations. • Conduct research during policy revision utilizing other agencies' policies, and various accreditation databases/forums. Make a recommendation based on accreditation inspections. • Work closely with command staff members and supervisors to ensure compliance with time-sensitive inspections, reviews, and reports. Inspect records/reports and maintain historical directives. • Maintains master and archive files for agency written directives. Distribute written directives/ policies including any changes or revisions to agency personnel. • Serve as liaison between Skyline Regional Training Academy, and all entities used for training or certification, and the Sheriff's Office. • Provide for training to newly hired employees. • Responsible for maintaining and updating the training tracking system in an accurate and timely manner. • Researches training programs, updates existing programs, works with personnel to develop new training curricula, and researches new available technology for tools. • Identifies instructional needs by conducting a periodic agency training needs analysis.
    • Manages and maintains the agency's training records.
    • Manages scheduling, registration, and payment of courses for agency personnel.
    • Reviews recruit performance; oversees remediation training as necessary and recommends appropriate actions.
v Manage existing and apply for and manage available grant opportunities including completion of required follow-up reporting. v Attends conferences and training to receive education on new trends and standards as it relates to law enforcement grants. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Advanced knowledge of law enforcement procedures, accreditation, policy development, and grants. • Strong understanding of clerical processes, record management, and office systems. • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and department-specific software. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines. • Sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality with sensitive information. • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to customer service. • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions effectively. REQUIREMENTS: This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, night vision, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The worker may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. The candidate is subject to interview(s), medical testing (including drug screening), and a comprehensive background investigation. In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully. EDUCATUION AND EXPERIENCE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three years of increasingly responsible experience working in law enforcement accreditation and/or policy and training.
  • Experience maintaining and evaluating law enforcement policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to obtain Accreditation Manager Certification within first year of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience working in law enforcement VLEPSC accreditation and/or policy and training. Experience working with an accredited agency as either civilian or sworn.
  • Equivalent to an associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Experience maintaining and evaluating law enforcement policies and procedures.
Experience in the administration, research, analyses, inspections, audits associated with grants.
