Job Description :

The Accounts Receivable Technician is a full-time position located primarily on the LL Polk Campus in Polkton, NC. Under the direction of the Accounts Receivable Coordinator, the Accounts Receivable Technician is responsible for the Accounts Receivable functions of the college.

  • Assist in the registration process of all students by accepting payments, issuing receipts, distributing computer generated registration forms.
  • Greet persons coming to the Business Office and channel to appropriate areas for information and assistance.
  • Research all unpaid accounts and take necessary actions for collection, including working with the North and South Carolina Department of Revenues, and collection agencies.
  • Maintain computerized student accounts by researching charges and payments and making adjustments to accounts as necessary.
  • Assume responsibility for accuracy of add-on charges to student accounts such as graduation fees, and other course-specific fees (requires close co-ordination with Academic Affairs personnel, and Curriculum and Continuing Education personnel).
  • Process appropriate Accounts Receivable refunds throughout the semester as necessary and work with Accounts Payable personnel to ensure that the correct amount of student refunds are disbursed (Financial Aid & Curriculum Tuition refunds).
  • Transmit financial aid funds to student's accounts to cover balances and refund students (requires close co-ordination with the Financial Aid Office).
  • Scanning of current and past Accounts Receivable documents.
  • Reconcile credit card and other automatic deposits.
  • Duties will include travel between campuses and throughout the state.
  • Backup for DCA and reallocation processes.
  • Responsible for reviewing and maintaining In House payment plans.
  • Work occasional nights and weekends as needed and as duties require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator, Accounts Receivable, the Director of Financial Services or the Associate Vice President of Finance.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in Microsoft Office
  • Minimum 1 year office experience
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in business administration or related field
  • Responsible person with knowledge of and experience in accounting, billing, and collection procedures
