NYLAG goes to where the need is, providing services in more than 150 community sites (e.g. courts, hospitals, libraries) and on our Mobile Legal Help Center. NYLAGs staff of 370 impacted the lives of nearly 129,000 people last year.Job descriptionThe Accounts Payable Coordinator is primarily responsible for the Accounts Payable functions and will also assist with other aspects of our financial operations. The Accounts Payable Coordinator will work closely with and in support of the Controller.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Verify that purchases have been properly authorized.
  • Generate payments to vendors in a timely manner.
  • Manage AP in Intacct accounting software; ensure that all accounts payable transactions are properly coded and allocated across the organization.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and year end 1099 statements.
  • Process staff refunds.
  • Ensure that payments are timely and accurate to avoid finance charges and to maximize cash flow.
  • Coordinate and facilitate tracking of vendor payments and contracts.
  • Resolve disputed charges and balances with vendors.
  • Ensure that all transactions are properly coded and allocated across the organization.
  • Process stop payment requests.
  • Assist in month-end close and annual audit preparation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, 2-4 years accounts payable experience.
  • Experience in an accounting function, managing vendor payments, recording and tracking accrued expenses and prepaid expenses, completing bank reconciliations or other accounting-related tasks.
  • Experience with the use of computerized accounting systems, preferably experience with Intacct.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently, manage complex and sensitive issues.
  • Professional, organized, detail-oriented, and customer service-oriented.
  • Experienced in allocating expenses to grants and contracts.
  • Related experience in the nonprofit sector.
