Accounts Payable Specialist

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts, account reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices and ensure accurate and timely payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end close activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper coding and approval of invoices.
• Receive, process, and verify invoices related to accounts payables.
• Establish and maintain accurate records to ensure data integrity and currency.
• Research and resolve straightforward accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a timely manner, while escalating more complex issues for resolution.
• Follow policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Respond to internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and procedures, including 2/3 way match.
• Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs.
• 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable.
• Experience with MS Dynamics or Great Plains preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Technical proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer applications.
• Ability to analyze and resolve basic issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience handling vendor statements for large accounts using Excel.
• Flexibility to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to work under direct supervision and make decisions within defined guidelines.

Work Environment

The position is based in-office, with flexibility offered after the first 6 months.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
