Accounting Manager (Manufacturing & Close Exp. Req.) - Hybrid

Location: Stamford, CT (walking distance from Stamford Station)

Job Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm

Start Date: ASAP

Relocation Assistance: Not Available

Travel: Initial months include 1-2 weeks per month, minimal afterward (less than 10%)

*Candidates on the CPA track will gain qualifying experience reporting to licensed CPAs

Accounting Manager (Manufacturing & Close Exp. Req.) – Hybrid Description

Our client, a global private equity-backed manufacturer, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team in Stamford, CT. This role will own and optimize the entire close process, manage general ledger activities, and improve reconciliations across business units. This hands-on position requires someone who can roll up their sleeves as both a doer and a reviewer. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing or public accounting with experience managing month-end close processes. This is a compelling opportunity to join a profitable, growth-focused company with strong margins and a supportive executive team. This role offers a growth path to U.S. Assistant Controller or U.S. Controller.

Accounting Manager (Manufacturing & Close Exp. Req.) – Hybrid Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize the monthly close process across business units

• Oversee and improve reconciliations across the general ledger

• Manage a complete close checklist and ensure timely execution

• Partner with and support Controllers at local sites

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis

• Ensure accurate and timely internal reporting and KPI tracking

• Drive process improvements and standardization across entities

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and periodic financial analysis

• Provide audit support and ensure compliance with internal controls

• Collaborate cross-functionally to support the integration of newly acquired subsidiaries

Accounting Manager (Manufacturing & Close Exp. Req.) – Hybrid Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required

• 4+ years of finance/accounting exp. in manufacturing and/or public accounting is required

• Strong understanding of G/L, debits, and credits required

• Proven experience managing the month-end close process is required

• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly learn new software are required

• Ability to work on-site 3-4 days per week in Stamford, CT, is required
