JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction, supervises and directs financial activities and operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, collections, revenues, and audits. Oversees, monitors, and implements internal financial controls. Works with the controller and director of finance to understand records of assets, tax and other liabilities, profits, and losses. Analyzes financial information and prepares related reports. Performs related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Provides direction, establishes priorities, assigns tasks, coordinates, and monitors the work of other personnel. Works with the controller and director of finance to evaluate employee performance and administer corrective actions.
Essential Functions:

Oversee controls for recording revenues and expenditures of the Carson Nugget casino. Provide financial and accounting services to other casino departments promptly to support their functions.
Coordinate and direct financial record-keeping policies; manage changes in financial reporting requirements; make recommendations for corrective actions; and submit status reports to the Director of Finance.
Ensure the Carson Nugget's accounting methodology complies with gaming authorities' principles; maintain procedures for financial reporting in accordance with state gaming laws and regulations.
Direct staff, monitor progress towards targets, and revise goals as needed to adapt to changing circumstances. Evaluate operational performance and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Manage and evaluate subordinate personnel, provide staff training, address deficiencies, and handle discipline and termination procedures.
Monitor cash transactions across all funds by accessing bank account information online to maintain minimum cash flow and account balances required legally.
Complete special projects, research, compile, analyze data, and prepare reports with recommendations for management.
Perform general accounting duties such as creating profit and loss statements, auditing records, maintaining ledgers, preparing journal entries, reconciling records, and balancing reports.
Develop and implement goals, policies, and priorities for the Finance department. Identify resource needs and recommend or create new or revised finance programs and procedures.
Participate in monthly and year-end closing of financial, payroll, and tax records; prepare trial balances and related statements.
Respond to and resolve inquiries and complaints effectively.
Ensure manual and computerized records are accurately maintained for current and historical data.
