Job Summary:

This position manages the monthly financial close through preparation and review of monthly journal entries, reconciliations and financial statements for North American Cubic entities and subsidiaries. This position works under general supervision and direction, however, the ideal candidate will be self-motivated and willing to question inherited processes. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the regional accounting personnel that perform and support the general ledger accounting function for North America operations.
  • Reviews monthly financial statements and supporting schedules while identifying opportunities for efficiency.
  • Reviews general ledger account reconciliations. Challenges and resolves any inherited reconciling items.
  • Prepares and reviews account analyses for management and internal/external auditors.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the timely availability of accurate financial information to management.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in accounting, or equivalent.
  • Eight years of related experience, preferably in a contracting and/or manufacturing environment. Experience managing direct report team members required and indirect reports preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing effective accounting departments and/or working with public accounting teams.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management and external third parties.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, and work under strict deadlines.
  • CPA certification or MBA preferred.
  • Exposure to foreign currency transactions and consolidations preferred.
  • US Citizenship required.

Cubic Pay Range:

$120,000.00 - $140,000.00* + benefits.

*Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market .

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
