A growing Colorado-based company specializing in medical device manufacturing is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead and support their accounting team. This is a full-time position with a strong emphasis on hands-on management and financial oversight.

The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial close process, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting reviews. This role will also manage tax deliverables such as sales and use tax filings, state registrations, and 1099 reporting across multiple states nationwide.

You will lead a team of three direct reports—a senior accountant, accounts payable specialist, and staff accountant—providing guidance and ensuring accuracy and compliance in all accounting functions. The role requires strong communication skills to support CEO staff presentations and collaborate effectively across departments.

This role reports to the Assistant Controller and is based in North Denver.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the financial close process, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting reviews
• Manage and review tax deliverables such as sales and use tax filings, state registration filings, and other multi-state tax compliance
• Prepare and pull documentation for federal and state income tax returns, external audits, corporate insurance renewals, and annual reporting requirements
• Supervise and mentor a team of three direct reports: senior accountant, accounts payable specialist, and staff accountant
• Support CEO and executive staff presentations by preparing financial analyses and clearly communicating financial information
• Collaborate closely with the assistant controller and controller on various accounting and financial tasks
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures while driving process improvements and operational efficiency
• Utilize financial systems such as SAP and maintain proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook to support daily operations

Requirements

3-5 years experience with:

• Supervisory experience managing accounting or finance teams
• Public and private accounting, including financial close processes, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting reviews
• Tax deliverables experience, including sales and use tax filings, state registration filings, and multi-state tax knowledge
• Proficiency with financial systems and tools, preferably SAP; working knowledge of payroll systems like Paylocity is a plus
• Strong communication skills to effectively present financial information to executive leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA strongly preferred
• Consulting experience is a plus, demonstrating hands-on management and adaptability
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other Office 365 applications
• Ability to manage multiple direct reports and support senior finance leadership
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic
