Position Summary/Objective:

The Accounting Manager will collaborate with Born Primitive's Financial Controller and CFO to plan and direct the accounting activities of the accounting department. The Accounting Manager's responsibilities will include financial book keeping and reporting, payroll, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), tax reporting support, and other activities directed by company leadership.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintain current and accurate financial books and records that comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reporting for management
• Monitor and control the accounts payable and accounts receivable balances
• Perform monthly reconciliations on applicable balance sheet accounts
• Evaluate and enhance internal controls, processes and guidelines for accounting department
• Work with the company's outside tax accountant to support federal and state tax reporting
• Coordinate with outside auditors as needed
• Manage the Accounting Specialist and future accounting department staff, including assistance with recruitment, hiring and performance evaluations for the department
• Perform other related duties requested by management

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong attention to accuracy and detail
• 2+ years of management and supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational and time management skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools; experience with NetSuite preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting related work experience required, 7+ years preferred
• CPA or CMA preferred

Physical Requirements:

This is a primarily sedentary position, however, standing desks are available for use. Associates may occasionally climb stairs, bend, stoop, walk, lift up to 10 lbs., and crouch as needed. Rarely associates in this position may be asked to push/pull up to 50 lbs., work in extreme conditions (heat/cold), and/or travel on a voluntary basis.
