This position is in-office.Primary ResponsibilityManage the ACCOUNTING DEPARTMENT PROCESSES, support the Controller by assisting in strategic planning in processes, closing timetable, and ensuring consistency once proper processes and policies have been established.What We Offer

Strategic Accountabilities
  • Support the Controller in strategic planning, alignment, and execution of (i) ensuring an acceptable closing timetable, (ii) consistently being able to close the books on the targeted closing date, (iii) ensure audit ready quality financials.
  • Manage the accounting staff who are responsible for billing, collections, and payroll, and when necessary, assist in recruiting and hiring accounting and financial staff and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Conduct training programs for current and new staff and identify training needs to attain goals.
  • Assist in establishing internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions, reviewing for any fraudulent activities, and remedy any process anomalies that are hindering reporting quality.
  • Work with the Controller to oversee the production of periodic financial reports, ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Assist and support the Controller in managing both the A/R and A/P department.
Tactical Accountabilities
  • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, support the Controller with outside auditors and provide any needed information for the annual external audit.
  • Present recommendations to management on policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable Balance Sheet Account to ensure accuracy and timeliness at all times.
  • Manage the monthly trust account disbursement for the IOLTA accounts.
  • Manage Sales Tax reconciliation and payment to State Taxing Authority.
  • Manage Weekly Cash Report to Partners and Owners.
  • Assist in any tax planning and support any needed documentation for annual corporate tax return.
  • Ensure timely payment of all invoices, initiating research on missing transactions to ensure timely entry/payment.
  • Review Prepaid Expense, Insurance Balance Sheet Accounts, Intercompany transactions, and non-payroll Expense Accrual Accounts.
  • Assist Controller with the Annual Unclaimed Property Tax Procedures for all companies, all bank accounts.
  • Manage monthly reconciliation of Intercompany Accounts regarding AVT receivable and MWZM payable.
  • Manage strong relationships with vendor representatives.
  • Serve as the Backup to the Controller, A/P, and A/R, when Controller is unavailable.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned, including administrative support as needed.
Leadership AccountabilitiesProvide leadership, delegation, education, and controllership to the accountants in reviewing and controlling:Review and lead daily check runs out of Case Aware and the weekly check run out of Quickbooks.Leading the accountants in managing the month-end process around A/P, Credit Cards Payable, Shareholder, and Employee Receivables as well as all Payroll Liability Accounts.Review the posting of all employee expense reports from an accounting policy perspective - control accounts to see if reminders have been sent out to employees regularly of deadlines to ensure timely accounting.Control the management of daily, weekly and monthly input of all invoices, credit card receipts, journal entries, and review staff when locating and inputting all missing transactions before the accounting period end cycle.Follow up with accountants to review if vendors have been assisted in requests regarding their A/R (both AVT and MWZM).Delegate and review the management of voided check process executed by the accountant to ensure all controls are working properly and protect cash assets.Review year end 1099 and 1096 IRS tax and reporting process prepared by the accountant.Skills / ExperiencePerform other related duties as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Strong technical accounting background.
  • Experience leading Accounting team members. (3-5 years)
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the Firm organization.
  • Willingness to grow and take on additional responsibilities.
