About the Role: The Accounting Manager will contribute to the development and maintenance of financial reports and budgeting systems. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Transactions:
- Ensure that accounts payable is paid according to prioritized payment systems set forth by the CFO
- Ensure that accounts receivable is collected promptly
- Ensure that payroll is processed in a timely manner
- Be familiar with Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage
- Ensure that monthly bank reconciliations are completed
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Maintain and record G/L activity
- Assist CFO in the preparation of Year-End Tax documents/reports for CPA
Reporting:
- Assist CFO in the monitoring of the financial performance of the company and provide analyses
- Compile financial reporting packages, including month-end
- Assist CFO in the preparation and maintenance of operating budgets, including reporting actual results against forecasts
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Ability to work independently and with a team with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to prioritize projects efficiently
Compliance Management:
- On occasion, coordinate the provision of information to external auditors (i.e. workman's comp and general liability)
- Report directly to CFO
- Assist CFO in providing leadership, support, coaching, counseling, holding accountable, and disciplining department employees, as well as planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Maintain applicable procedure manuals
- Assist in the development and management of financial controls in accordance with the company's procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- 2+ years related experience as Assistant Controller
- 3+ years Management experience
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Sage 100 Contractor
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal correspondence
- Project management and execution
- Commitment to detailed financial accounting and reporting
- Cash Flow Management
- Manage AR/AP/Payroll/ Certified Payroll
- Job-Costing experience preferred but not required
Preferred Skills:
- Management: 3 years
- Accounting: 5 years
- Assistant Controller: 2 years
