Accounting Manager (Administrative)
The Accounting Manager should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of General Ledger accounting, managing the month-end close process, and handling complex issues and problems. This role supports the Director of Accounting with month-end close activities, balance sheet account reconciliations, account activity analysis, and related journal entries. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate leadership by training, coaching, and mentoring junior staff.
Responsibilities:
Manage month-end close activities, including report generation, data analysis, account balance review, and journal entry preparation/review.Assess team strengths, opportunities, and workload to ensure optimal effectiveness.Modify checklists and redistribute tasks based on team capabilities.Partner with the team in preparing and reviewing weekly flash/interim reports.Review and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations monthly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Manage Staff and Senior Accountants through work instructions, training, and review to ensure accuracy and timeliness.Assist with year-end financial statement audits by completing assigned requests.Maintain proper documentation for monthly and year-end financial disclosures.Understand P/L statements and provide variance analysis against budgets.Enhance internal controls over operational accounting processes and systems.Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to identify process improvement opportunities, establish best practices, and advance reporting systems.Support ad-hoc reporting or analysis requests.Requirements:
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP, month-end close processes, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently manage multiple projects while leading a team.
- High attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a corporate setting.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in corporate general accounting.
- At least 2 years of team management experience.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
Technology Skills:
- Familiarity with Dynamics365 or other ERP/accounting systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and Power BI.
Work Environment:
- Sedentary work in a hybrid schedule.
- Extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
