The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting operations within our commercial real estate portfolio. This is a permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment. The role requires a deep understanding of commercial and retail accounting, property management, and real estate. If you have a passion for numbers, a knack for accuracy and a keen eye for detail, this could be the perfect role for you.Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
• Coordinate and execute the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
• Perform CAM reconciliations (CAM recs.) and handle all aspects of property management accounting.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports, highlighting key trends, variances, and areas of improved performance.
• Work closely with the property management team to provide accurate financial information and assist with contract review and fiscal management.
• Ensure compliance with all internal policies, relevant regulations, and accounting principles.
• Implement and monitor internal financial controls, including policies and procedures, to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.
• Utilize financial data to improve profitability, provide recommendations and implement agreed changes.
• Lead and manage special projects as assigned by upper management, and provide leadership and support to the accounting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or advanced degree is a plus.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the commercial real estate industry.
• Proficient in using MRI and RealPage or similar property management/accounting software.
• Solid knowledge of CAM reconciliations, monthly reporting, financials, year-end procedures, commercial and retail accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations, with experience in real estate and property management accounting.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset to anticipate and resolve issues.
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a commitment to drive and achieve results in a team-oriented environment.
