Overview:
MPLX Logistics and Storage (L&S) Accounting records costs and revenue for the L&S segment, prepares financial statements for operated joint ventures, engages with the business through financial reports, and maintains accounting records for SEC and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting.
The Accountant position tracks and reports project and operating & general expenses for Marathon Pipe Line (MPL)'s Asset Integrity and Field Services & Planning organizations. Additionally, the Accountant performs cash accounting for field checks and coordinates reimbursable project tracking, among other duties. The successful candidate should be results driven and a self-starter with strong analytic skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support AI (Asset Integrity) and FSP (Field Services & Planning) with project cost tracking
Provide monthly reports to AI & FSP to assist in managing costs to budget
Provide analysis and research to assist AI & FSP in operations and cost management
Participate in administration of FSP's field checks process
Coordinate monthly reimbursable project tracking for L&S projects; accumulate costs of third-party reimbursable projects and invoice upon project completion
Complete closeout activities including journal entry preparation, account review and analysis, reporting, and account reconciliation
May document, update, and maintain internal procedures or work on special projects
Drive for continuous improvement of business and systems processes, while maintaining integrity of controls and accuracy of the financial statements
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Accounting degree preferred.
Minimum 2 years' accounting/finance experience.
