DescriptionJOB DESCRIPTION The Accountant II will perform complex work involved in agency accounting; Review all paid invoices, prepare billing for County contract and all other grants, apply cash, reconcile all GL accounts as assigned, work with auditors on the agency audits, prepare financial statements, audit the accuracy of payroll and make sure that all transactions of the agency are recorded accurately and according to GAAP. The ideal candidate will also assist the accounting team with the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to ensure integrity of finances and maintain a regular backup of accounting data and worksheets. Compensation based on education and experience. REPORTS TO Accounting Manager. QUALIFICATIONS 3 years' experience in GL analysis, account reconciliation, and payroll processing with knowledge of State and Federal Labor Laws. Working knowledge of Excel is required and familiarity with other office programs is preferred. Associate in Accounting or Finance is required but can be substituted with 5 years of experience. Drivers license for at least two years and driving record acceptable to insurance carrier. Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to ensure integrity of finances based on sound accounting procedures and controls.
- Review all paid invoices to make sure that they comply with Unform Guidance.
- Reviews and reconciles all related General Ledge accounts monthly to ensure that all entries are recorded accurately and according to GAAP.
- Prepare and assist preparing all agency budgets.
- Review agency payroll, allocations and prepare budget to actual reports.
- Prepare all agency billing and apply cash when received.
- Assist with agency audits
- Prepare compliance reports
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to: operate a motor vehicle; climb stairs; possess good communication skills; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. See well enough to read data on a computer screen and text in written documents; perform extensive computer keyboard operations. Capable of the following extended activities: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Capable of the following intermittent activities: stooping, kneeling, lifting 25 pounds or more and bending in the performance of infrequently performed office duties.
