Advertised Job Summary:Access Control Manager
Requires a bachelors degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience in implementation and configuration, which includes hardware and software, for card access control systems from inception to completion. Previous information technology project management strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of security and access control. Knowledge of current security, access control hardware, software and emerging technologies. Skill in analyzing and improving operational effectiveness as well as defining program objectives and access control standards. Ability to perform complex analysis of access control issues and exercise independent judgement. Ability to manage multiple tasks. This position does serve as back up during emergencies and on weekends as necessary. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/ hazardous weather and other emergencies.
Job Duty:Provide project management support in the planning, design, development and implementation of card access control systems. Use software to create the structure for establishing card access control systems in residence halls. Develop project schedules with meaningful and observable milestones. Assign tasks to programming staff and monitor. Identify and eliminate inhibitors. Communicate advice and project status to staff, management and customers.

Job Duty:Responsible for managing, producing and providing access control credentials (keys and cards) to authorized personnel. Create access groups for the system. Resolve emergency card access issues including but not limited to door access. Monitor system performance and implement solutions to prevent further problems. Configure card access control hardware for interior and exterior card readers. Work with Carolina Card staff to ensure staff and student access card issues are resolved in a timely fashion in a secure and expedient manner. Manage access control inventory, including replacement parts and temporary access cards.

Job Duty:Communicate with customers, management and coworkers regarding upcoming releases and upgrades. Communicate project schedules and tasks as well as any problems and issues to the Associate Director of Student Affairs Technology Services. Represent USC in communication with vendors regarding releases, upgrades and problem resolution. Develop and maintain vital relationships with engineers, vendors and campus partners to implement and maintain successful access control systems on campus. Serve as liaison between IT unit and Facilities Maintenance unit for all access control hardware repair, replacement and upgrade purchases. Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers on access control service and hardware/software lifecycle management.

Job Duty:Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, program management, policy enforcement and problem resolution related to reported access control issues. Responsibilities also include independent interpretation and complex problem solving around existing policies, meeting with customers to advise them of options and exploring requests around access control services. Help find solutions through seeking cooperation from resources and guiding others about specific policy and procedural problems.
